When someone walks through their front door for the first time, they should feel at home and prepared to move forward in their lives. Boston Healthcare for the Homeless and Project Hope, two of the amazing organizations HELPIS serves, prepares individuals and families for this move from homelessness to independence. These families will be moving into a home of their own and will have permanent roof over their heads, many for the first time in months or even years. It’s a major step towards accomplishing goals, having personal freedom, pride and dignity.

Our goal is to provide each family with a “Welcome Home Basket” stocked with essential household items needed to make their house a home.

How can YOU help? Create a basket on your own or recruit a team to help make a big impact together. With each member contributing a small amount, a group can make a significant difference in the life of a family in transition.

• Laundry basket

• Shower curtain and hooks & bathroom mat

• Pots & pans

• Dinnerware (plates, bowls & glasses for 4)

• Coffee mugs

• Silverware & kitchen utensils

• Can opener

• Broom & dustpan

• Toiletries (toothpaste & toothbrushes, soap, shampoo & conditioner, mouthwash, etc.)

• Sheet set & blanket

• Trash bags

• Dish soap

• Laundry detergent

• Mop

• All purpose cleaner & other cleaning supplies

• Sponges

• Hangers

• Bath & dish towels

• Paper towels & toilet paper
